While wandering aimlessly around Park City during the 2010 Sundance festival I found myself in a whiskey distillery/restaurant called the High West Distillery, and ran into a great local band that goes by the name of Lash Larue. Their sound was a nice combination of folk, country and some soft rock rolled in, I was surprised that I was familiar with most the songs they played, all classics. Their rendition of Wagon Wheel, a song written and performed by Bob Dylan and later Old Crow Medicine show was a stellar. As I sipped by whiskey the sound of this 5 piece band enveloped me like an old comforter, I could have hunkered down with this music all night, but alas all good things must end but I will track these guys down and do a proper review then.
Members of three Park City bands collided one dark, winter night in 2009 when a fund-raiser, house concert for Mountain Town Music brought Karri, Elaine, Cole, Jack and Mark together for the first time ever. While there were other amazing artists in the group that played that night including Matt Flinner, Marty Klein and Damien Roomets, the connection between the fab five was somehow meant to be. With a bend for the old and the new and a lot of harmony singing, Lash LaRue has found its voice and is rockin’ it up as the new house band for the High West Whiskey Distillery on Park Avenue

Elaine Berns – Vocals, Washboard

Cole Hobbs – Vocals and Electric ( beautiful light green Gretsch that I coveted the entire time)
