Rubber Planet

My first trip to The Toad Tavern in Denver turned out to be a Rock-Fest, an entire night of mind bogglingly great music, the place had a DJ that seemed a little bit too good to be just a DJ, as it turned out the DJ was Silver, the lead singer and bass player for [...]

 Mike Berg, front man, lead singer and guitarist of the Denver based band  And Sometimes Why has the type of band musicians die for, talented, passionate and mature. I knew this band was great before I had even entered the building,  just the deep groovy sounds emanating through the brick wall as I walked towards the entrance of the [...]

Lisa Genee

Lisa Genee

Lisa Genee originally from the East Coast, now a Denver resident performed her heart out at the Meadowlark in Denver March 4 2009. A huge voice from a small woman who plays a mean guitar. Mixing a blend of music from soft ballads to hard edged folk-punk Lisa and her ever present smile illuminated the dark halls of this underground venue. The Colorado Music Buzz had this to say about her;

“Newly arrived from the East Coast, this petite spitfire has turned many a head in the past few months with her seductive tunes and songs that elicit a barrage of imagery replete with tales of yearning and love. Surprising for one who is so young and bears an aura of innocence but possesses an undeniably devilish grin on stage. Watch this savvy girl Denver!” Christian Blochinger

Nick Sullivan and Alex Hebert of the Denver-based band American Relay are the kind of guys that you feel like you have known forever within minutes of meeting them. We had been invited to come see some “real” rock at a low-down club on Broadway in downtown Denver. I am not one who can pass [...]

Born in the Flood

As the night progressed, it was obvious that this was not a “normal” concert and was a true variety show where musicians wandered on and off stage at what seemed like random and dynamic intervals, depending on their mood, the song being played and the tone of the vocal audience. Share and Enjoy

k’naan

K’naan is a young man from Somalia and this was his first tour. He then went on to demonstrate his very poetic style of hip hop/rap/ska blend. He had the entire club singing along to one of his songs called Freedom, the chorus was: When I get older, I will be stronger, they’ll call me [...]

Stonefed

When we left the bar two hours earlier, it was nearly empty. Upon our return, the bar was packed; only one table was open and there was a mysterious pair of shoes under the table and a jacket on one chair. Well, maybe the shoes weren’t that mysterious, but it sounds a lot better, don’t [...]

DeVotchka

Four days have passed since I saw the band Devotchka play in Boulder, Colorado, and I still cannot stop thinking about them. What exactly was it that I watched? A musical performance by avant-garde musicians, a gypsy traveling show, a musical deviation of Cirque de Sole, a science experiment in the dynamics and the results [...]
