Hey Lewis,

Love the photos you shot of Phoenix at Red Rocks. I get the ability to shoot 311 with a photo pass because I know their management. I’m curious to know how you got to shoot Phoenix. I currently live in Austin and am trying to move into shooting more shows but am having trouble breaking into the “scene”.  I would certainly appreciate any tips or advice you may have. I’ll also add you as a contact on Flickr if you don’t mind.

I was assigned to shoot the show by the Denver Post at an Indie/Prog Rock Festival called Monolith. The best bet is try and get some media outlet to “assign” you, even an online website or local poaper can do this. The other approach is to try and contact the band’s publicist or message them through the bands’s MySpace site, this has actually worked on several occasions for me.
